PERSONALITY Milo loves language. He thrives on deciphering ancient texts and dead languages though to others it may seem like more trouble than it's worth. He's a verbal whiz kid and speaks a lot of languages fluently, and can pick up on more just by listening to them and figuring out other languages they sound like. He's very studious but isn't above being wrong sometimes by going too fast in his excitement. A ladies man he is not. Milo is shy and does not generally command a presence. He can take leadership roles in extreme situations but much prefers to support others. He is quiet unless excited about something and prefers books to people. He tries to be understanding in all situations and will try to use them to educate. His self esteem isn't always the greatest, knowing how awkward he can be. He is also easily flustered by the opposite sex. HISTORY Milo was part of the research team that found Atlantis in the early 1900's. He followed his grandfather's notes and led the team to the once great civilization. He felt pity for the people and their plight. While they survived, they were not the thriving society he expected, Many of their customs, even their language, was lost to them from a disconnect with the outside world. The princess of the realm, Kida, showed him this. Milo desperately wanted to help them recover their prosperity. Once there, however, he discovered that several of his compatriots wanted to steal what little the Atlantians had left for their own gain, taking a power source they found in Kida linked to her through a crystal she wore that connects all of the Atlantians together. After a battle Rourke and his henchmen were defeated and Milo stayed behind to start a life with Kida. The crystal he was given connected him to the Heart of Atlantis and provided him with longevity enjoyed by most of the Atlantian people. Milo made his way to Storybrooke on accident. In Atlantis time passed differently for him and what felt like a few years to him were actually nearly one hundred. He wanted to see the world again and show Kida where he came from, not knowing that New York was not the same as when he left. Their trek wasn't the easiest thing. The trip to the surface had them passing through a turbulent whirlpool. Kida and Milo were separated and he opened his eyes on the shores of Storybrooke. He still hopes she is there but has not found her yet. RP SAMPLE Milo had his head bent down closely with Belle. They were both looking at the same book, trying to decipher an old spell. It was even taking him a little while to flip the script around and find the right words. Magical language, he found, was not like any other he had heard before. It often had no rhyme or reason and, therefore, was hard to figure out. He kept trying, muddling through to be of some use while he was here. Even with everything he'd seen real magic was still pretty new to him. At least, this realm's brand of it. He missed Kida sorely. "This looks sort of like ancient Sumerian but the dialect...is off. It's like speaking backwards." He ran his finger beneath the words, creating syntax in his head and trying to piece it together. It was indeed like speaking backward, jumbled phrases that really didn't seem to fit together. It took him a minute to puzzle out a recurring phrase on the page, two words that kept being grouped together carefully. "It keeps talking about a night...a single night, but it doesn't sound like an event to me." From the context he certainly didn't think it was an event. Otherwise, certain key phrases would be different. "Or dark. Maybe it's dark. Single dark? No, that's not right. Dark one?" He looked up, his eyes meeting Belle's. |
